VP Corporate Services/CFO

 

BC Safety Authority (BCSA) has a bold vision for the future: Safe Technical Systems. Everywhere.  This vision is accompanied by a 10-year strategy to expand and share safety and risk knowledge by adapting world-class risk management methodology to address the needs of existing clients as well as new markets and clients yet to be identified and cultivated. BCSA employs approximately 320 persons who support thousands of clients from more than 20 regional and community offices across the province.

 

The VP Corporate Services/CFO leads the finance, information technology and corporate services functions and has a mandate to champion strategic and general management excellence across BCSA to ensure success and sustainability of the company. The role is actively involved in formulating and executing corporate strategy and has key accountabilities for information technology, risk management, service pricing, forecasting, financial reporting, asset management, and budgets and controls. Based in New Westminster, this role reports to the CEO and Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and works collaboratively with other members of the executive team and a wide array of external stakeholders. Through 5 direct reports, the VP Corporate Services/CFO guides 35 persons with diverse skills and backgrounds. The current incumbent VP Corporate Services/CFO will retire in the autumn of 2014. Ideally, the next VP Corporate Services/CFO will start in August 2014.

 

The ideal candidate is a university graduate and inspiring leader with superior business acumen, an entrepreneurial spirit, a desire for results, high integrity, positive energy and the diplomacy, gravitas and finesse to influence others. The candidate must have a track record of success in progressively more senior roles with oversight for corporate services, information technology and financial systems in complex, unionized contexts. Ideally, the candidate will have a dream of one day leading an organization and the values, talent and commitment required to realize that dream. With a recognized accounting designation and substantive expertise in business transformation and information technology, the candidate must have the capacity to distill complex ideas into plain language and proven experience in effectively leading change. Resilient, courageous, curious and calm, the candidate must have experience in working with Finance and Audit Committees of Boards of Directors and in supporting executive teams to generate new services and revenues, from idea generation through development and to launch. A flexible thinker with the ability and courage to contribute and to respectfully confront to move issues forward with transparency, the ideal candidate is a decisive team player who enjoys coaching and mentoring others.
