Formerly available only to AWF members, the Fireside Chat Series are now open to the community at-large. The Fireside Chat Series provides a small, intimate environment for industry professionals to network (bring your business cards) with top members of the financial community and meet with high-caliber business leaders. As this event has limited seats, register early to secure your spot.

More about Julie McGill, Miranda Lam and Christine Bergeron:

Miranda Lam is a partner of McCarthy’s Litigation Group in Vancouver.  Ms. Lam is ranked in the 2014 edition of Benchmark Canada: The Definitive Guide to Canada’s Leading Litigation Firms & Attorneys as a future star (British Columbia) in the field of general commercial litigation. She is the recipient of the Association of Women in Finance 2014 PEAK Women in Finance "Rising Star" Award, and was recognized as one of Business in Vancouver's 2013 "Forty Under 40".  Miranda obtained her LLB from the University of British Columbia in 2002, where she received the Honourable Ray Herbert Award as the All-round Graduating Student and the Alumni Association Achievement Award as Outstanding Student of the Year. In 2007, Miranda received the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law’s Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna Award, and in 2001, she was named YWCA Young Woman of Distinction.

Miranda has been and continues to be actively involved on a number of Boards in a variety of capacities. She is a frequent speaker at various events and conferences on board governance, leadership, community building, and civic engagement, and has lectured extensively on the critical role of the board chair in a not-for-profit context.

Julie McGill is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator. She is currently Director with CAI Private Equity. Prior to joining CAI Julie was Vice President, Valuation & Business Modeling Advisory Services, at Ernst & Young specializing in business and intangible valuation, litigation support and mergers and acquisition consulting. She has also worked in accounting firms in the Northwest Territories and Montreal. Julie graduated from McGill University in 1999 with a B. Comm in accounting and finance. She is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV) and the BC Expropriation Association.

An active member past and present on a number of Boards in the Lower Mainland, Julie is also the recipient of the Association of Women in Finance 2013 PEAK Women in Finance "Rising Star" Award. She is the proud mom of two young boys. Julie enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, and fitting in golf and good books whenever she can.

Christine Bergeron has spent her career working with entrepreneurs, financing innovative companies and building financial firms.  She has focused on investing within the clean tech, sustainability, and social finance sectors.  As a founding team member and Vice President of Chrysalix Energy, an early stage venture capital firm, she was part of a team that pioneered "cleantech" investing. She then co-founded a successful alternative asset management firm furthering her expertise in sustainability financing. She has spent the last few years of her career at Vancity where she has been focused on growing Vancity's impact investing and lending portfolios.

Christine holds a B.A., an MBA and the Chartered Investment Manager designation. In 2007, she was named one of BC's Top 40 Under 40 business leaders. In 2012, she was honored with the Rising Star award by the Association of Women in Finance.  Christine has experience in board governance, corporate strategy, fundraising, portfolio management,  risk management and investment strategy. During her career she has been a keynote speaker, panelist and moderator at finance and sustainability events around the world.  What she loves most of all is spending time with her husband and two adorable little boys.
