Call for Nominations are Closed for PEAK 2012

 

Thank you for your interest in the AWF’s PEAK 2012 nominations. The call for nominations is now closed. We’re happy to report that we received numerous nominations in all five of the following categories:

  1. Lifetime Achievement;
  2. Excellence in the Private Sector;
  3. Excellence in the Public Sector;
  4. Community Legacy; and
  5. Rising Star.
Award Honourees will be selected from eligible nominees in a confidential process by an independent judging panel.  Additional Awards may be presented at the discretion of the AWF.  The Award Honourees will be announced in February and individually honoured at PEAK. 
 
This year's PEAK Awards will be a fabulous evening, during which we will honour the brilliance and achievements of women within the finance community and hold a silent auction to raise money for the AWF PEAK Scholarship Fund. PEAK 2012 on May 14th, 2012 will feature keynote speaker Amanda Lang, Senior Business Correspondent, CBC News, speaking on this year’s theme “The Forecast Calls for Gains”.

Submission directions:

Complete the application form in its entirety.  

Submit the form and accompanying documentation in confidence to Lorna Nimmons, AWF Director by fax (604 691 3031) or email (lnimmons@kpmg.ca). 

 

Eligibility:

To be eligible to receive a PEAK Award, the nominee must:

  1. Live and work in British Columbia.
  2. Be currently or recently employed in the field of finance or retired from the field.  The field of finance is defined broadly and includes, but is not limited to, educators, public service employees,  finance professionals, such as accountants, CFAs, CFPs, actuaries, bankers, CFOs, CEOs and lawyers (corporate finance, business, securities, real estate, tax, financing).
  3. Satisfy each of the Nomination Criteria for her award category as listed below.
  4. Consent, in writing, to the nomination and the publication of her name, photo and biographical information, if chosen as the successful Honouree.
  5. Be available to attend the Awards on the evening of May 14th, 2012.
  6. Not be a staff member of the AWF or a current Director of the AWF.

 

Judging panel and criteria:

 

All complete and eligible nominations are forwarded to an independent judging panel composed of finance professionals at various stages of their careers.  The judging panel will be chaired by a Director or nominee of the AWF.  The AWF reserves the right to move nominees into another award category if it is deemed suitable.  Unless specifically declined by the nominee, nominations will be considered for two consecutive years (assuming that the eligibility criteria are met).

 

Award Honourees

The successful PEAK Award recipients will be announced in early February 2012 and individually honoured at the PEAK Awards on May 14th, 2012.

Awards Criteria


Lifetime Achievement

A Lifetime Achievement PEAK Nominee is a finance professional or woman in the field of finance who:

  • has 30+ years of experience;
  • demonstrates an enduring commitment to achieving excellence;
  • guides, supports and encourages the development of others or the promotion of women;
  • is actively involved in her professional or personal communities; and
  • is described as a leader, ground-breaker, or visionary by her peers.

 

 

Excellence in the Private Sector

 

An Excellence in the Private Sector PEAK Nominee is a finance professional or woman in the field of finance who:

  • works in the private sector;
  • demonstrates a high and quantifiable contribution to her company or industry;
  • guides, supports and encourages the development of others or the promotion of women; and
  • is actively involved in her professional or personal community.
 

Excellence in the Public Sector

 

An Excellence in the Public Sector PEAK Nominee is a finance professional or woman in the field of finance who:

  • works directly in the public or not-for-profit sector or provides services primarily to the public or not-for-profit sector;
  • demonstrates a high and quantifiable contribution to her institution or industry;
  • guides, supports and encourages the development of others or the promotion of women; and
  • is actively involved in her professional or personal community.

 

 

Community Legacy

A Community Legacy PEAK Nominee is a finance professional or woman in the field of finance who:

  • demonstrates extraordinary service to the community, whether as a whole or a subgroup, or within her profession;
  • is respected by her community for her contributions; and
  • is making a sustained commitment and significant difference.

 

 

Rising Star

A Rising Star PEAK Nominee is a finance professional or woman in the field of finance who:

  • has less than 15 years of experience;
  • is an early leader who has made meaningful professional contributions that are outstanding and unique;
  • guides, supports and encourages the development of others or the promotion of women; and
  • is actively involved in her professional or personal community.
