Location: Downtown Vancouver, beautiful office, transit accessible.

Role & Team: Manager, Risk Assessment & Internal Audit. This position is open due to the incumbent transitioning into a different area within the finance department. This is the sole Manager in this area in the global headquarters and the position is right-hand and second-in-command to the VP, Risk Assessment and Internal Audit. There is one Internal Auditor reporting in. The new Manager will be responsible for overseeing the internal audit function, as well as leading and managing a variety of projects pertaining to risk assurance, IT audit, audit analytics, internal controls, enterprise risk management, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Internal Audit including management of financial, information technology, and operational audits across the global organization.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential risk areas and determining best solutions.
  • Coordination of Enterprise Risk Management program for the organization.
  • Leading of various IT audit projects
  • Certification of Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR)
  • Review and evaluation of internal controls, identification of deficiencies and recommending solutions.
  • Project management in all of the above areas. 

- We are seeking business leaders with the following skills and experience-

Must Haves:

  •        Accounting Designation, preferably CPA, CA
  •        8+ years' experience in internal audit and risk management, public practice only or combination of public practice and industry
  •        3+ years' in a people management function (for example, seasoned Manager within public practice)
  •        Canadian SOX skills
  •        Experience with implementation and review of corporate internal controls
  •        Enterprise risk management (please give us an idea for size and scope of organizations worked with and in)
  •        Solid audit skills- can be only external audit, but if so, must be in-depth and must have been on the audit team for the same large client at least 3 years in a row to see several cycles and to prove ability to improve and adjust audit practices
  •        Information Technology Audit Skills- IT testing, CAATs, etc. This Manager will oversee large-scale projects pertaining to risk assessment of the company's systems
  •        Experience (industry or public practice) supporting the audit processes of a large enterprise- at least 2000 employees and at least $2B

Nice To Haves:

  •         Certification as a CIA or CISA
  •         Experience with COBIT 4.1 and/or COBIT 5.0 frameworks
  •         Hands-on audit analytics skills, perhaps using ACL
  •         Experience with global and/or public companies
  •         Experience working in, or supporting, a company in mining, oil & gas, or industrial services would be considered an asset

Soft Skills Required:

We are seeking individuals who are friendly, down to earth, easy going, and professional team players. Must have excellent communication skills including ability to adjust communication style depending on the audience.

Compensation:

This is considered a strategic and senior-level position. The range on base salary starts at $100,000 and goes upward from there, commensurate with experience level, plus very generous benefits and other perks.

Travel Component:

Travel in this role is anticipated to be around 10% to 15%- probably 6 trips a year ranging from a few days to a week at a time.
